WHY go to work every day? WHY exercise and eat well? WHY pray and read scripture? WHY go to school, read books or attend personal development seminars? WHY, WHY, WHY...
As I grew up, I rarely asked myself WHY? I never stopped to ask WHY. I was either following instructions or busy, busy working or getting entertained by the radio, TV, friends and other activities.
I was 37 yrs old when I stopped to ask WHY. That day my life’s perspective changed. I began to consciously and purposefully ACT in response to my WHY.
Let me give you some examples: I asked WHY did I get married? After much thought :) I concluded that I wanted a thoroughly enjoyable relationship where we both constantly grew and encouraged each other. Once I was clear about my WHY, it was A LOT easier to find ways to thoroughly enjoy and constantly grow together. Decisions are fast and
simple when you know WHY.
One more example: I asked WHY do I want to be wealthy? After days of thinking about it, I concluded that wealth would allow me OPTIONS that most people don’t have. Options like traveling with my family. Or having resources to help the causes dear to my heart. Options to handle emergencies better. Options to be around people I loved more. Options to impact more people and create a legacy.
I also asked WHY stay fit and avoid “delicious” junk food. WHY get closer to God? Why tithe 10% and spend another 10% on personal growth? WHY avoid drinking alcohol or watching TV or reading the news? I started to ask WHY on pretty much anything that I spend my precious and limited time on.
You really should ask yourself right now: WHY listen to this little Mexican guy with an accent? What value could I possibly get out of showing up to one of his trainings, conferences or presentations?
Here is a human performance insight: Once you CLEARLY define your WHYs, everything becomes A LOT simpler. Decisions are fast. Your stress literally drops to zero, finances begin to dramatically improve, relationships become priority, and you get motivated to get and stay fit.
I have a really fun and insightful exercise that I do with everyone who decides to join us. Let me know if you at a point in your life where it makes sense for you to figure out WHY?
PS: People with strong, clear WHYs get 25 - 2 and SHOW UP. Its as simple as that...
